        El Monte Rey (born January 8, 1991) is a Chicano-Latino emcee, song writer, promoter, political activist and music producer. El Monte Rey was born in El Monte, California, his mother was born in Lima, Peru and his father was born in Guadalajara, Mexico. Being a young parent at 18, having not completed middle school and dropping out of high school after numerous suspensions and expulsions; he turned to music in 2009 being known as an underground-independent emcee, singer, producer, promoter, photographer, and song writer. Although he founded Familia United Records in 2009, it was not officially established until June 2013 after recording his first song(s) "Coffee Beans N' Weed", "Stop Calling Me", and "Morir de Pie" @ Elijah Records Enterprise and "Viva Perú y Mexico" @ Sonido Bruto Lima, Peru.

 

In 2009, El Monte Rey received his G.E.D from College of the Desert in Palm Desert, California. 

In 2014, El Monte Rey received his Associates Degree in Kinesiology and Social & Behavioral Science from Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California.

 

In 2016 , El Monte Rey received his Bachelor's Degree in Chicano-Latino Studies and a minor in Native American Cultures from Long Beach State University.
